Smooth cement finishing

Hi all!
It's been a long time since my last post.
I apologize about that.
Well, the reason why I am posting today is because I recently had a client that was having a hard time deciding on some floors for their summer house in Pelican Lake, MN.
She and her husband didn't know much about flooring, but they knew for sure that they didn't want to continue with the wood floors from the first floor because their basement area has an entrance from the beach and people will be coming in and out wet and with sand.
So I suggested them "smooth cement finishing" for the floors, which not only is easy to clean but also doesn't require much care.
They didn't know anything about it, but they found it very interesting and cheap.

Happy New Year!
Hope you had the chance to take some time off.
I am finally back, and today I am just going to tell you something interesting I heard about how to "refresh" your house or how to make changes.
Yes! more about the same, but after all,  is always good to hear more advises.
So this person told me:

"Once a year, put all your stuff in the middle of the house, all your furniture, pictures, etc. and relocate them  in the house, find a new place for that picture and for that couch. You wont believe how big of a change you will find at the end. Even change the pictures from the frames".


So now you know~ What are you waiting to start!

Today I am bringing you 1 more idea to create a low budget change before the New Year comes and before I take a vacation :)
Yes I am leaving to Minnesota tomorrow! so I will be unplugged for some days.
But before leaving I wanna leave you thinking on how to create your wall of pictures, or your wall of memories.
Look at this pictures, may be they will inspire you:

 

As you can see, you don't have to worry making sure everything match or the shape of your frames is the same. You can mix them without standard. And you can also put family pictures on them or simply draws that you like.

So my advice is... start walking around the house and collect all the frames you see and hang them in THAT wall!

Hi everyone,

Yesterday I promised I will give you some ideas to create small but cool changes with a low budget to start the new year with a good energy and I was thinking...
"Is there any person in this world who doesn't dream with that big library full of books?"
You can tell me whatever you want about the Kindle and the iPad, and blablabla... but even today lots of people still buy books and some of them I am sure enjoy making their own notes in them and highlighting a memorable phrase.
And I am telling you this because I am one of those weirdos.
What's more if you ever watch any Interior Design show, you will see how many Designers buy books only to decorate their clients houses. Something that I consider absolutely absurd.
Why you will spend money from your budget buying books that you might never read when I am sure you have lots of books that, even if they don't look pretty, you can make them look pretty very easily?
Yes! you can create a book cover and I am telling you, if you make a good choice when you buy the wrap this can't fail.
Today I am going to show you some pretty wrap ideas but of course, the same as with the pillows, the variety is infinite so you will have to do your own search or hire me to do it for you! ;)

How to make a bathroom look bigger?

Did you think it was impossible? No, no.

Here I have some ideas to make your small bathroom look bigger.

Color: use light colors. Dark colors tend to make the space smaller in some cases.
Light: Add as much light as you can.
Tiles: use big tiles! YES! they make the space look more roomy.
Bathroom fixtures: go for hanging fixtures they let the light go under them creating a feeling of more space.

And last: consider a shower instead of a bathtub. Come on! How many times a year do you use it?

                                                     

Furniture for outdoor spaces

What material we should choose for outdoor spaces?

Wood is the best option! Wood furniture are beautiful and they give you great results, they can be a little bit expensive but, since they are very resistant to the weather conditions is money well spent. 

Iron is another good option but you have to consider that the rain is his enemy and of course snow too.
That's why they need to be paint once in two years with varnish, so they don't get damaged.

Also consider bamboo and rattan furniture, but they are better for semi covered spaces.

Living in a studio

Hi everyone!
Sorry I haven't been posting recently but I was on vacation in California and when I say vacation I mean no schedule, no internet, no phone calls, only relaxing and resting.
Well, I was thinking, since I haven't been producing much, today I have to come with something BIG or more cool than usual. So I did a research about: How to make a studio look bigger?
I know here in the USA is not very common to live in small spaces but for my folks in Argentina it will be very helpful. This is a question I've been asking so many times and hopefully today I will be able to come with some good answers. So...

1) First of all paint the walls in neutral colors.
People always think that studios MUST be paint in white, but I don't agree, you can go with other range of colors such as beige, soft blue or light grey. They can give a touch to the space and still make it feel bigger or not too tight. Just stay away the bright colors.

2) Make good decision when you buy furniture for a studio. Wood and fabric chairs may look great with that dream dinning table but might not fit your studio. Try acrylic chairs! and why not a white table? Also, you might not be able to fit a table if you are planning to have a queen bed. A good solution to that? How about a "breakfast in bed" table?

3) Storage is fundamental in a studio. When you buy a bed you might consider a divan bed or simply a bed with drawers. Being untidy is not an option anymore and you might want to keep your stuff clean and organized.

                


4) What about light? When living in a studio you usually don't have much natural light so make sure you use the natural light as much as possible. Go for light curtains that will let the light break through them.
Also when it come to light fixtures make sure you pick light colors fixtures or why not crystal fixtures? Don't worry! they don't have to be real crystal, they can be glass or acrylic, fortunately the market has plenty of options now. This kind of fixture will also help to reflex the light.

5) If you have very dark floor you can make it look lighter by adding a carpet, but remember, if you have a carpet you will need a vacuum cleaner and consecutively you will need to sacrifice some of your storage space for it.

And last for today:

6) Leave some space between the floor and your furniture, that will help the light to get through and increase that feeling of space.

Today I have another idea to make your walls more fun.
This stickers are pretty cool and the best: they don't damage your walls when you wanna remove them.
Of  course I own one! But I am still waiting to find the perfect wall for it.

Storage cubes

Hi!

Sorry I haven't been writing but my computer wasn't working plus I was gone.

So... today I come with an idea for those parents who are tired of having their family room looking like a toy graveyard.

Believe me I have been in many houses with kids and the luck of storage for toys is a recurrent problem.

That's why I come with this idea, the storage cubes! They are awesome to hide whatever you want and make your house look tidy very quick! Plus they can be use as a seat when you have people coming over.
